Apocalypse Legacy Challenge - TSS style
This challenge was created by The Sims Society, but it appears that their website is down. I've only added this for a friend who wanted to play this challenge. If/when Sims Society comes back up, I'll gladly remove this page.
Cheats - The only money cheat allowed will be to remove money with family funds. Using other cheats is up to you. Some people do and some don't. That will be personal choice.
Generations -
Generation 1 - Your founder can live a normal sim life. But there is a catch. Instead of building a home, they need to build a bunker. It must be stocked with all the necessities that generation 1 and 2 will need. Don't worry about electronic’s, you can't use them as there will be no power. Include beds, cribs, toys, skill building supplies such as an easel, chess table, inventing table. And books, make sure you stock up on your skill books! Bikes will also be helpful for the future...get a bunch! Generation 1 should also think about the food supply, make sure there is a way for your simmies to have plenty of food. Stock up on fruits, veggies and fish!
Hopefully if you sim has a LTW that requires them to leave the house, you make sure to complete that before they go below ground. When your sim is expecting their first born, disaster strikes and you must go below ground. Cancel the newspaper, quit your job, don't answer your phone or accept opportunities. The world as you know it is now gone and it is unsafe for you to leave until your heir ages to young adult. There is no money, so you should remove any remaining simoleons with the family funds cheat. It is highly recommended that you purchase the No Bills Ever LTR. You really don't need any radioactive repo men at your door!
Generation 2 - Your heir will be the first sim to leave the bunker. But they can not leave until the become a young adult. They will discover that there is nothing but destruction left. How will they survive? They will fish and collect fruits and veggies. They can start a garden. It is important to make sure you give your heir a LTW that they will be able to achieve. There are no Rock Stars in this generation. You have no rabbit holes, you have nothing. You must survive off the land and do whatever it takes to meet a spouse. Generation 2 is not allowed to sell anything! You can collect rocks, gems, and metals for future generations to use but you can not have gems cut or metals smelted. Unlocks the mausoleum, they can start a cemetery if needed. Add 1 family – role dice to see how many.
Generation 3 - Is pretty much the same thing as generation 2, but you are now allowed to barter your food stuffs. The grocery store can be placed at this time.
Generation 4 through 10 - You can begin unlocking rabbit holes (and Ambitions buildings) based on your requirements for them (see below for world rebuilding). Your sims are now allowed to have LTW that correlate to place rabbit holes.
Gen 4 unlocks school, criminal warehouse, science building (unlocking the science building allows you to smelt metal/cut gems and stuff)
Gen 5 unlocks Police, Hospital
Gen 6 unlocks military and city hall
Gen 7 unlocks Journalism, Bookstore, Diner
Gen 8 unlocks Corporate Towers, Athletic
Gen 9 Theater, movie studio, bistro
Gen 10 ???
Rebuilding and Populating Your World -
One of the main goals of this challenge is that you slowly rebuild your world over several generations. Going through the apocalypse and coming out of a bunker a rock star is just not feasible in a world with nothing! You will want to slowly place your rabbit hole lots. Set goals for yourself, make your sims reach a certain criteria before you can place a rabbit hole. Each rabbit hole placed should be a reward for achieving a goal. Rabbit holes can unlock other items.
For an example, you can set yourself the goal of level 10 logic and you read all the skill books. When you reach the goal, you can unlock DooPea Towers. Since you have unlocked DooPea towers, you can now join the journalism career and practice your writing. Once you write so many books you can unlock the newspaper, write so many more and you can unlock the books store and library.
You should populate your world slowly! Remember you are returning to a world of nothing, when you come up...you'll be lucky to meet an NPC or two as a spouse. Or you can choose to have 1 other surviving family. It's your choice, you can even place an additional family per generation also if you wish. Having story progression on and empty buildings will move sims in, so make sure to demolish your lots and only add one or two at a time!
Now go rebuild a world, and have fun!
